Please read the letter below by Founder of Heavycore.org, Pete Altieri

So why did I start Heavycore? To be honest with you, I was just fed up. Fed up with all the bullshit that bands were putting out - claiming to be "metal". From a guy who grew up listening to great 80's thrash/death metal . . . it was sickening to see this new wave of fags. I grew up only 40 miles from NYC and so heaviness is in my blood. After taking some time off playing in the early 90's, I started my own band called Low Twelve in 1998. Based out of Central Illinois - most of the bands in the area were playing lame ass radio bullshit new metal. It was terrible. Heavy bands couldn't get on any of the big shows, because they didn't fit in.

Low Twelve stuck out like a sore thumb playing with these bands, and wanted to be with our own kind. Bands who had the same influences as us. Hell, I love Slayer, Testament, Carcass, Pro-Pain, and shit like that. I don't want to hear Slipknot and the never-ending onslaught shock/WWF metal. That's when I decided that there must be tons of bands like us, in towns all over the world, dying to hook up with bands like themselves. So I started to scour mp3.com and sites like that, looking for metal bands who were proud of their roots. Guitar driven, rip off your face, and smack you in the nuts metal. The good shit! It started small, with only a small handful of bands from Central Illinois and others scattered around. But Heavycore was spreading and bands began telling friends about it. Then members were going to concerts and passing out Heavycore info. People checked out the website, because our members put banners up to link to us. It was a grass roots approach that spread like a cancer . . . and slowly has gained momentum.

I'm amazed that the organization has grown to over 800 members and supporters! We started it out as a free service to help bands network with others who played the same kind of stuff. Heavy shit - no poser bullshit, no new metal, none of that crap. We've got black metal, thrash metal, death, grind, old school, and hardcore. It's all the good stuff - poser free and balls out.

This organization was founded by a musician like you, who wanted to unite metal heads worldwide. So join forces with us and apply today. If it's heavy and I dig it - you're in. If not . . . well - you'll be politely asked to go somewhere else. If you bitch, piss and moan about not getting in, then I'll tell you to fuck yourself. It's that simple. We don't candy coat shit around here. I'm an old school metal head who wants to savor what's left of a dying breed. Posers have the radio and MTV to put our their stupid ass message - those of us who play real metal have chosen a path few can survive on. But we forge on . . . and know we are carrying on a proud tradition.

If you ever need to contact me, feel free. My email is poserdisposer@lowtwelve.com and I answer all of them. Thanks for your support of heavy music and I hope I can call you my brother in Heavycore. It's an awesome organization that has done nothing but help brethren put our their message.
