Band: Start The Mosh Pit
CD: Living Only For Yourself
Reviewer: Maggot

Review:

Sweet bass lines, Anselmo-ish vocals (can you believe it), furious guitars and thunderous drums calling you to START THE MOSH PIT.

I had the pleasure to check out the cd from START THE MOSH PIT named "Living Only For Yourself". Which for me has always been the mosh pit motto. S.T.M.P are tight, heavy, and HEAVYCORE. The vocals are clean and preach lessons of life whether personal or geared towards other people. I still cannot get over the vocal mastery of Pete Goyner and Todd Fournier. There is a definite difference in the voice but it compliments one another like heavy and metal. P. Anselmo has always been one of my favorite vocalists, through all of something like 15 plus bands of his. The vocals (I'll define) are more of the Pantera brand, not Phils death metal stylings. In fact When i heard the last portion of the third song "realize", which is the lyric im actually refering to, S.T.M.P wavered the vox so perfeclty it clicked in my head as "Fucking Hostile". True metalheads know what im refering to. As far as the drummer, Scott Hansen, this bad boy needs to throw a reminder on this disk to wear steel toe boots while listening to this gem. Drums are so well beaten that if it wasnt for the fact of me wearing my boots, in my basement, by myself, jamming this album i would have fucked my foot up kickin it up, when i was rocking out on "Within" when i ran my foot into my concrete wall.

There are seven tracks on "Living Only For Yourself". Each one a skillfully played reminder that Vermont has some heavy fucking bands up there. Start The Mosh Pit is not only the name of this phenominal band but it is also the demanded action when listening to this killer disk. Never will i be able to go to a metal show and hear someone on stage say something about starting the mosh pit and not think of this band. Thanks guys....hahahahaha!
