Okay here’s an interesting band, and let’s not even talk about getting busy around these guys, because if anybody has been, it’s them. RUE was born in early 2003 and started playing shows in April of ’03. By May they had this 9 song album done(released in November by Shifty Records) and hit the road in November on national tour playing alongside such bands as Weedeater, Goatwhore, Carrion, Bongzilla and more. Let’s talk about getting busy shall we? These are some dedicated and busy musicians. Their album is nine tracks and exactly thirty minutes long. Thirty minutes of kick-ass, stoner/doom metal at it’s finest. Very much in the vein of Bongzilla, RUE puts out a masterful disk here. Almost immediately my head began to bob in time with the music, and my feet never stopped keeping beat right along with them. I was impressed with the completeness of their press pack, the artwork on their album, and the tightness of the band itself. It’s nice to slow things down once in a while and just immerse yourself into heaviness, and RUE will make you do just that. They like very heavy distortion, and very, very deliberate licks. Nice clean hooks, great bridges and pickups accompanied by low, gravelly vocals complete with growls, screams, and brutal death-metal type screams make this an album to appropriate. I think this will certainly be a band to watch. Especially since their philosophy is this: Don’t give a fuck. Remember what you are. Lay waste to all. Amen RUE!!
