When I first heard RMISERY, I was thinking it would be a totally heavy death metal thing. But instead I would like to consider them like a death groove and that's what I like especially about the band. I love getting my head bashed in by metal as much as the next guy but these guys have a style and a groove that are truly unique. I'm not sure if this is a Florida west coast thing or what, but its definitely killer.
The name of RMISERY'S, 3 song EP is "Closer To Insanity." Their first song, "Judgement Day", is almost humorous due to the fact that you know how pissed off these guys are at life with their lyrics. But I can understand, and hope the next time I find myself in an odd situation I can just tell them all to "fucking kiss my ass"!!!!! I also appreciate the heavy bass in this song!!! Not mention the groove of the guitars and the drums, it is almost a hoppy kind of feel!!!!
"Mental Pleasures," starts out almost trippy like a Dr. Who kinda thing but with real instruments, and then lowers down into this almost "Crawlspace" bass thing from LOW TWELVE! Very foreboding feeling of this song, almost haunting...but aren't the corners of our mind?
"Insane" is the last track by RMISERY on this cool little EP. I'm not sure how many times I heard the word insane, but what else would you expect from such an appropriately titled song? The song does not ever seem to totally cut loose but it does remind me of a time when I found my ex-bestfriend I was living with screwing my girlfriend of many years in my house and in my bed. I lost it, but still was able to maintain.. some what.... but dabbled in a little insanity. I was very reserved like and started slicing myself up and covering the bathroom in blood. Nothing short of looking like a serial killer homicide and then after everything was covered.....I cleaned myself up and went to bed to let them discover the insane feelings I had. Such as the feeling I get from this song, teetering on insanity. Someone should keep a close watch on the fellas!!!!
