When I got this promo, I was like, eh, yeah, cute. This looks like some later day MACHINE HEAD shit, and boy that makes me excited. Then I read and find out the guitarist from TYPE O NEGATIVE was involved and about how this music was dark. Oh, great--goth MACHINE HEAD. What could be worse?
But only about one minute into it did I realize that this was not only quality music, but it was also so close to being accepted by “normal people,” it was scary. This band is dead on the heels of giving GODSMACK a run for their money as a hard rock band who will be accepted by N.A.S.C.A.R. fans all over America. And football teams will have a new hero, since none of the football players will like the new METALLICA, since it is actually heavy.
This is very hook filled and commercially acceptable, and if you know me, that’s something I like. I mean, it’s not like I have a GODSMACK tattoo or anything, but I do appreciate what they do--bringing heavy music to the masses--even if it is the masses of people who actually watch cars drive around in circles for five hours and consider it entertainment. Not the point here. It is something that is not what I consider NU-metal, but not classic IRON MAIDEN by any chance, either. If you ask me, this is pure line 2000-era hard rock and it smokes! I guarantee this band will blow the fuck up!
