Ok. Last time I reviewed this band’s album, I guess I banged on their CD cover too much and made fun of their black metal posturing too much. They sent me an email arguing their point, which is fine, because it was only my opinion and I did not dislike them. This time around, DARK FORTRESS have gotten much better. And though the panda bear paint is still prevalent, it makes no difference to me. The CD is quite excellent, man! It’s very bleak, very grim, and just alone sounding. The songs are well thought out. However, I found most of them to be a little predictable and the mid-paced sections of the CD were a bit on the boring side. When they do jump up to full speed, the riffs are kvlt as fuck and the music has a new life. Sounds like someone wants to storm the gates of heaven!

Overall grade, not bad at all. I’m not going to put it in the league with the black metal elite or anything. I will say, however, it’s worth checking into!
