Well, this is it the big label debut of those creatures from England who seem to have a never ending revolving door of members, but that never seems to stop these goth boys from doing it like the dead--cold.
This opens up with what I think may be the best CRADLE song ever. "A Bruise Upon The Silent Moon" is epic in every detail and is something not to be toyed around with. It is also the opening chapter to this, a concept album. See, initially my main complaint was the changing from song to song. The songs did not fit well as a puzzle and I thought whoever mixed this album was a complete fucking moron. But when I finally figured out these were chapters and not just songs, the pieces started fitting together. However, it is still my biggest complaint--it just does not fall correctly and the moods do not mesh well.
As for a record from CRADLE it is a step up and much better than the just ok "Midian" release. Is it going to propel enough sales to keep them on Sony music? Doubtful. However, I could be wrong.
Good news! They stayed metal and did not waver any of their imagery or satanic (or pseudo-satanic) presence. They did utilize a wonderful choir and also an orchestra to liven up the sound!
I will not go too much into detail other than to tell you that to me this is their best work to date and I’m glad for them. Now, let’s go fuck nuns and burn churches!!!!!
