Review: Clean your swords, ready the horses, and gather your men and rations, the time has come to go to a Tolkien-esque realm filled with might and magic!!!!! The name of this epic fantasy metal band from Finland is BATTLELORE. The album is "Sword's Song." Right from the get go you are drawn to the CD with brilliant graphics of a knight and his blade gouged deep into the belly of a massive fire laying, red eyed dragon. "Sword's Song" is a 12 song trek back to the days of chivalry, heroic deeds, and darkness always trying to overpower the king's mighty and vast lands. You will find stories of magic, epic battles of good and evil, enchanted forests and other stories pertaining to a Middle Earth like realm. There are also many wild characters along the way that you will encounter like orcs, demons, trolls, and elves. The sword is law and the law is always with you, even in the hour of your death. The sword will thirst for blood and for glory. There is nothing that i know of that compares to the massive sound of BATTLELORE. I raise my chalice to thy clan. Wonderful landscapes of sounds fill this disk to give you the feeling of being in the battles, the meeting of the maiden so fare, and the might of the characters. There are many extremely strong vocalists whether male or female almost in an operetta style clashing with a brooding death metal style. Crushing keyboards keep the landscapes fresh and always changing. Drums like thunder ride along with the horses and keep the BATTLELORE sound pushing forward. If you like guitars then the master work on this album will bring you to your knees. This a must get album for 2003. No questions about it. History repeats itself and sometimes the message is more clear the second time around as proven here by BATTLELORE in this massive tribute to days gone by named "Sword's Song"!!!!!
